PIck a Date

While Alaska is fortunate enough to experience all four seasons throughout the year, they tend to present a bit differently than elsewhere in the world. The midnight sun and the lack of sun also contribute another element to our seasonality. While summer days are long, with warm afternoons and cool evenings, winter days are short and dark with frosty, glistening landscapes and freezing night time temperatures.

Fall and spring are both shortened seasons as Alaska is always moving between extremes. Autumn typically begins in mid-August and offers incredible foliage of red and yellow against our moody glacier blues. Spring lends to budding trees, greener landscapes and lots of flowing water.

There is no bad time to celebrate your union via a helicopter elopement is just depends on what season speaks to the beginning of the rest of your lives together. Reach out if you are having a hard time deciding!

Photographer Joe Connolly has captured the wedding memories of more than 1900 couples over the years. He has photographed weddings all over the United States, Canada and Europe. Originally from Michigan, Joe moved to Alaska to pursue his passion for the outdoors and photography. If you don’t see him behind the camera, you might find him on his mountain bike, backcountry skiing, flying, or hiking along one of the area’s trails. Joe has obtained his commercial pilot license in both airplanes and helicopters and has spent thousands of hours flying and photographing in the area that we operate over the past 20 years. There aren’t many people who have spent as much time as Joe in our mountains! Having climbed Denali, done multiple glacial traverses and climbed many of the area peaks, he can give you a lot of information about the area from first-hand experience. Joe has an energy around him that is relaxing and fun, and you can see it in the way his couples are truly themselves in front of his camera.  Joe’s clients are consistently impressed with his work and the amount of word-of-mouth referrals that he gets is a testament to that.

Hey, I’m Chelsa, a traveling wedding and elopement photographer based in the great state of Alaska.

My goal is for you to have a seamless, stress-free, FUN experience then deliver you a beautiful collection of photos, a gallery that you will cherish forever.

To me photography is more than art, it’s an heirloom, a gift to your future self. It’s the best storyteller and measure of your legacy. It’s your history.

My photography style is diverse; the way I shoot is creative and art focused. I like to get a good mix of heavy posing for romantic and editorial shots as well as stepping back into a documentary style to capture candid moments.

Hey I’m Halie – your adventure elopement photographer. I want you to feel connected to one another and the landscape on your wedding day, so I’ll take a step back and allow you to explore. Think of this as more of an experience than a photoshoot – I’m here to capture it all, but I also want you to take it all in and enjoy your day!

You both are going to have such an incredible time exploring Alaska’s glaciers, lakes, and mountains. You’ll get to relive the day again and again through the photographs we create and the memories you make.

I can’t wait to adventure with you!

Quality time and genuine interactions are things that I value in life and elopements are the ultimate representation of those things in wedding form!

The make-your-cheeks-hurt laughter, the “OMG ME TOO!” realizations, belting out lyrics to your favorite songs, bonding over delicious meals or having deep conversations are all such fun and special moments and make up many of my core memories, and that’s what I want to document and create when I’m photographing your elopement! After having a big wedding myself, and having photographed large weddings for several years, I thought that was all there was. But when I photographed my first elopement all those years ago, I fell in love. Having a day so intimate and personal allows for those little relationship moments to shine through. The one-on-one time you get with your partner, and the people you include (if you choose to do so) is that much sweeter.

Sooo, whatcha think? I’d love to be your photographer!

She’s especially loved by couples who might feel intimidated in front of the camera. With an enthusiastic, encouraging approach, Emmie creates an experience that feels fun, comfortable, and genuine, allowing couples to relax, be themselves, and fully take in the adventure around them.

When she’s not photographing elopements, you can find Emmie outside with her husband, Joe, and their daughter, Cora — fly fishing, exploring new places, and soaking up the kind of slow moments that inspire the stories she loves to tell.

SELECT A HELICOPTER

We fly 2 different types of Robinson Helicopters. The R44 and the R66. The differences between the two are small, but important to note.

The R44 can accommodate 3 passengers, with a max weight allowance of 650 lbs. On your elopement day, this typically allows for the bride, groom and photographer for up to 4-5 hours of total time. The R44 has under seat storage for small bags, coats or small celebratory items you may want to bring along with you (champagne, cake etc.)

The R66 can accommodate up to 4 people, with a max weight allowance of 900 lbs. It is perfect for bringing along an extra passenger, going out for a longer day, going longer distances in the helicopter, or just increasing the weight allowance for 3 passengers. The R66 has an external cargo storage compartment that allows for larger items (small table, picnic basket, etc.).

Guests oR No GUests?

Guests can deepen the meaning of the moment.

When planning a helicopter wedding or elopement, one of the first decisions to make is whether you want guests or an intimate, just-the-two-of-you experience. Aircraft capacity and weight limits to coordinating schedules, attire, and comfort in a remote setting are all things to consider when it comes to guests. And for many, it’s worth any extra planning and cost. A guest-free elopement offers simplicity, flexibility, and a deeply personal focus on the two of you, while a small group can turn the day into a once-in-a-lifetime shared adventure.Think about the atmosphere you want to create, the memories you want to make, and how involved you want others in your epic, lifechanging, wilderness ceremony.

Most couples opt to add guests to their ceremony landing location to join in on the celebration of  saying “I do”.  The wedding couple is then whisked away in their personal helicopter to more landing locations while their guests enjoy a flightseeing excursion back to home base.
