Alaskan Owned & Operated
The Outbound Heli Experience
We founded Outbound Heli so we could become millionaires!!! (Ha! Just kidding!)
Alaskan-owned and operated!
As full-time residents of Southcentral Alaska, we know this place and the spectacular landscapes accessible by air.
Most flight tours in Southcentral Alaska operate on a preset, regimented flight path with predetermined landing locations. It’s a practice that allows for more customers and higher revenue, but that doesn’t fit our philosophy or mission behind operations as a unique, adventure oriented helicopter company.
The Outbound Heli Adventures experience was founded by Chris Timpano and Bridget Kelly based on two passions: flying and the unbelievable scenery of Alaska.
We wanted to be “more.” More adventure-driven, more spontaneous, and more curious about the unique landscapes of our area, allowing guests to explore and discover along with us.
We believe flying in Alaska is all about seeing the unseen angles of the Great Land, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
“We believe flying in Alaska is all about seeing the unseen! ”

Why We’re Outbound Heli Adventures
Each year, more than two million people visit Alaska, most of them for the first time. It’s our mission to make sure each traveler flying with us at Outbound Heli has the experience of a lifetime.
We rarely use the word tour when describing our flights and adventures. No two people are alike, and everyone comes to Alaska with a different wish list in mind, and that’s why we make all flights custom to fit you.
Most flightseeing companies in Southcentral Alaska operate on a preset, regimented flight path with predetermined landing locations. It’s a practice that allows for more customers and higher revenue, but it definitely doesn’t fit our philosophy or mission as an adventure-oriented helicopter company.
We wanted to be more for our guests. More adventure-driven, more spontaneous, and more curious about the unique landscapes and features of the Knik area, allowing guests to explore and discover along with us.
That’s our commitment, and our passion, and it will always be at the forefront of what we do.

My favorite Outbound Heli adventure:
With the help of Nic Petit and The Alaskan Dogstead Mushing Co., we raised enough funds through GoFundMe to go on a helicopter search for a missing Iditarod pup along the trail. We searched for days and found only traces of the dog, named Leon. Wouldn’t you know it, but that dog showed up near McGrath, several weeks and several hundred miles later, following the trail back home to find his musher!
Meet Bridget
Co Founder & Operations Manager
After arriving in Alaska for what was meant to be a short stay, I was invited on a helicopter tour and glacier landing on Knik Glacier (an extremely unique adventure back then). The experience was life-changing for me.
Discovering miles-long glaciers with views so spectacular they made me question my very existence was encouraging enough for a move from the mountains of New York to Alaska’s Matanuska Valley.
Over the past 14 years, Alaska has completely enamored me with its raw beauty and untouched landscapes, and the idea that a helicopter can provide access to the previously unseen is an awesome notion. I never imagined a lifestyle in which I get to experience all that I have, because of flying, and I am fiercely passionate about sharing my life with others.
After meeting Chris and realizing our passions aligned in sharing Alaska from the sky, we joined forces and started Outbound Heli Adventures, and a new life of adventures we have had and those yet to be.

My favorite Outbound Heli adventure:
Flying to and camping next to the Colony Glacier. Being somewhere so remote where no one else has ever been is quite an unreal experience. Lying under the Midnight Sun, listening to a giant glacier calving into a lake of immeasurable depth, watching a moose cow and her calves nibbling on shrubs…There’s nothing (yet) that compares.
My favorite Outbound Heli adventure:
Taking both of my kids out for their first flight was a highlight for me. Hearing their sheer joy through the headsets and watching their smiles as we flew over majestic mountain tops where black bears were browsing along the slopes most definitely took the cake for me!
Meet Skye
Director of Marketing
My path to Alaska actually began as my fourth year of college stretched out (I may have been taking my time). My dad sat me down and told me it was “time to narrow down a major and graduate.” This conversation led me to the University of Missouri, where I (finally) completed a degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism with an emphasis on sustainable tourism.
My degree also required an internship, which led me to accept a job in Alaska with Major Marine Tours. Three weeks later, my husband and I packed up our Toyota Camry, including our basset hound, and headed North to Alaska. After four seasons in the glacier and wildlife day cruise sector, I accepted an offer with Alaska’s Destination Management Organization, the Alaska Travel Industry Association. For more than seven years, I worked with the marketing team creating and managing the cooperative marketing programs for Alaska tourism businesses.
After giving birth to my daughter in 2023, I was looking for a way to spend more time at home while still staying connected to the workforce. This is when Outbound Heli Adventures asked me to join their team. My love for tourism, adventure, Alaska’s beautiful lands, and sharing this incredible place with others made accepting the position easy.
I am now fortunate to be a part of the great team of professionals helping to provide once-in-a-lifetime experiences!

My favorite Outbound Heli adventure:
My favorite adventure with the company began before I began working for Outbound Heli Adventures. My sister and her husband came to visit, and Chris took us out for a glacier landing flight. My sister and I did the polar plunge together, and this is hands down my favorite experience to date, and such a special experience for us to share. I encourage all our guests to take the plunge!
