2022 Alaska Cruise or Glacier Ice Climbing?
See the Chugach Range from the air as your helicopter flight takes you over snow capped mountain peaks and braided river valleys to land on over 300 feet of glacial ice thousands of years old! Experience majestic blue pools, stunning, swirling moulins, deep crevasses and dramatic ice formations when you step foot and trek around the surface of the Knik Glacier. The mighty Knik, one of the largest glaciers left in southcentral Alaska, is twenty-six miles in length and 6 miles across at its toe. In addition to spotting wildlife from the air (moose, dall sheep, spawning salmon, and bears), you’ll have an eagle’s eye view of towering waterfalls, glacial iceberg-filled lakes, and the untouched wilderness of the Last Frontier! This excursion allows for 40 minutes of flight time
NOVA Adventure Guides
Once you have landed let NOVA Guides introduce you to the world of glacier ice climbing. No previous experience is necessary. Your guides will spend a few minutes setting up and explaining the rope systems while you snack on provided treats, take in the scenery, and learn about Alaska’s wild glaciers. Your guides will equip you with everything necessary for a successful trip including; a harness, helmet, boots, crampons and ice tools to ensure a successful ascent up the glacier wall. You can choose to take on a steeper challenge or stay in your comfort zone. This will be a trip that you tell stories about for years to come!
Every day and tour is a little different out on the glacier. It’s always a good idea to be prepared in Alaska. We recommend bringing a personal backpack on the tour to store items such as raincoats, extra layers, snacks, cameras, sunglasses, hats, gloves, water bottles for drinking glacier water or anything else you would like to bring on the tour. This trip is highly customizable, so people of all abilities and experience levels will have an amazing adventure.
